Everything you need to get started with Situara — your risk map for home, caravan and travel.
What is Situara?
Situara shows, in real time, what's happening at the places that matter to you: your second home, your caravan or your travel destination. On one live map you see wildfires, earthquakes, air quality/smog, severe weather and more — worldwide. With Situara Plus you save your own locations and get an alert the moment something happens within your radius.
The Situara app (iPhone)
The Situara app for iPhone is now available on the App Store — download it here. The same account works everywhere, so your saved places are ready right away. The app sends native push notifications for your saved places. Prefer the browser? Add situara.com to your home screen for an app-like experience. An Android version is on the way.
Getting started
- View the map (free): open the Live Map or the app — no account needed. Free shows the map with the weather and air quality layers.
- Sign in: sign in with Apple, Google or e-mail to save your places and receive alerts (with Plus).
- Upgrade to Plus: unlocks all layers, your locations and alerts. See Pricing.
The map & layers
Each category (earthquake, fire, weather, air quality…) is a layer you switch on/off in the legend.
→ What every layer means, and where its data comes from
- Free: 2 layers at a time (weather + air quality). The other categories appear in the legend with a 🔒.
- Plus: all layers at once, no lock.
- Switch map style (button, top right): Dark · Map · Satellite.
- Use the location button (◎) to jump to your own area with a radius around it.
Adding your places (Plus)
- In the app: the My places tab → + Add place.
- Search for a town or address, or choose "Use my current location" (e.g. your home in Italy or your caravan spot).
- Give it a name and set the alert radius with the slider (25–500 km).
- Tap a saved place to view it on the map with the radius shown as a circle. Remove it with the 🗑 icon.
Alerts (Plus)
- You receive a push notification the moment something happens within the radius of a saved place.
- Extra channels (e-mail, Telegram) are coming.
- Each hazard is reported once — no repeat spam.
Subscriptions & Holiday Pass
Situara Plus — €3.99/month or €29.99/year. All layers + locations + alerts.
Holiday Pass — €4.99 for 3 months, ends automatically (no renewal). Ideal for a single trip or season.
Purchases go through the App Store (Apple). You can cancel any time via your Apple account → Subscriptions; your access stays until the end of the period. The Holiday Pass doesn't need cancelling — it ends by itself.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Is Situara free?
Yes — the live map with the weather and air quality layers is free, no account needed. For all layers, your own saved places and alerts you need Situara Plus.
Do I need an account?
Not for the free map. Yes, to save places and receive alerts. You can sign in with one tap using Apple or Google, or with e-mail.
How do I buy Plus or the Holiday Pass?
In the app: go to Account (or Alerts / My places) and choose a plan. Payment goes securely through your Apple account (App Store). Not signed in yet? You'll sign in with one tap using Apple when you buy.
How do I cancel?
Cancel a subscription in your Apple account → Subscriptions (iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions). You keep access until the end of the paid period. The Holiday Pass ends automatically — there's nothing to cancel.
Where does the data come from? How reliable is it?
Situara brings together public, reliable sources — including earthquake data from USGS, fire detections from NASA (VIIRS/FIRMS) and weather and air quality data from meteorological services. The information is near-real-time and indicative; in an emergency, always follow the instructions of your local authorities.
Can I use it abroad, for my second home?
Yes — that's exactly what Situara is for. Save your home, caravan or travel destination and keep an eye on what's happening nearby.
Are my location and data tracked?
No, we don't track you. Your current location is only used to centre the map on your area (with your permission). Your saved places are the locations you choose yourself. No ads, no tracking — see the Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my account?
In the app via Account → Delete account, or e-mail info@situara.com. We'll then remove your account and data.
The app opens on a black screen / won't load
Fully close the app and reopen it. If that doesn't help, check your internet connection. Still failing? Call +31 85 1099 050 or e-mail info@situara.com with your device and iOS version.
Privacy & account
- We only use your data to provide the service; no ads, no tracking. See the Privacy Policy.
- You can have your account and data deleted any time — in the app via Account → Delete account, or e-mail info@situara.com.
