What the map layers mean
Situara turns dozens of official, real-time sources into one live map. Each layer is a different kind of event. Turn layers on or off in the legend; tap any dot on the map to see the details and the source. Here is what each one shows.
Natural hazards
Earthquake
Recent significant earthquakes (magnitude 4.5 and up, past 7 days), with location and depth.

Fire
Active wildfires and heat hotspots detected by satellite in the last 24 hours. The Fire heatmap shows the same detections as a density view; Fire perimeters (EFFIS) shows mapped fire outlines in Europe.

Volcano
Active or erupting volcanoes and volcanic activity alerts.

Tsunami warnings and watches following major undersea earthquakes.

Major natural disasters — floods, tropical cyclones, droughts — with a severity level (green / orange / red).

Environment & safety
Radiation
Environmental radiation readings from official monitoring stations — so you can see if levels are normal or elevated.

Air Quality / Smog
Areas with poor air quality or smog (fine particulate matter, PM2.5), useful for health-sensitive people and travellers.

Snow and ice conditions and related warnings — relevant for travel and road safety.

Armed Conflict
Reported armed clashes, attacks and violence against civilians.

Political Unrest
Protests, riots, strikes and civil disturbances.

Diplomatic flashpoints and escalations between states — the “temperature” of world affairs.

GNSS Disruption
Areas where GPS / GNSS signals are being jammed or degraded — this affects navigation, aviation and drones. A strong indicator of conflict or military activity nearby.
Source: known interference regions, plus incidents reported in the news and checked against their source. Live sensor data for GNSS is not freely available.
Where a report states that AI or autonomous systems are involved, the popup links to AI-enhanced GPS interference.
AI & Cyber
Reported incidents in which artificial intelligence is used against people or organisations: deepfake and voice-clone fraud, AI-driven cyberattacks, and AI disinformation campaigns. Only incidents that were actually reported and can be tied to a country appear here — the layer is deliberately thin. Every dot links to the article it came from, to the publisher, and to a plain-language explanation of what you can do.
